Two freshman teams will have new coaches this year following recent appointments by the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports. George F. Roberts '38, of Milton, will replace Stan Priddy as coach of the freshman hockey team. William W. McCurdy will coach the Yardling track team, succeeding Carl Olson.
In coaching shifts at other colleges, Cleo O'Donnell, captain of the 1946 football team, goes to M.I.T. as varsity basketball coach, and James Rathschmidt, Princeton freshman crew coach since 1946, takes over at Yale for Allen (Skip) Walz, who resigned to enter private industry. Peter V. W. Gardner, 1949 Tiger varsity captain, will replace Rathschmidt.
Roberts won three hockey letters here, starring at center. He also earned an H in football. Besides coaching the freshman six, he will assist Cooney Weiland, new varsity head.
McCurdy comes from Springfield College, where he coached the freshman track team. An alumnus of Stanford, he participated on several college teams.
