Tootell, Keith, Carter Are Crimson Stars; Black of Losers Wins Mile and Two-Mile

Rolling up an impressive 99 to 41 score, the track team completely outclassed Rhode Island State Saturday afternoon in the Stadium.

Harvard showed up even stronger than anticipated in the weights, featured by Geoff Tootell's wins in the shot and discus and Charlie Keith's 182-foot, 2 1-2 inch javelin throw. Jaakko Mikkola's team took firsts in 13 of the 16 events in its was the Rams' thin, expressionless Bob "Spider" Black. Glancing frequently back as he ran, Black finished far ahead of Dave Cairns with a 4:27 mile. Later, taking over first position at the halfway mark, Black ran away from the field in the two-mile.

Dave Carter set a new personal mark by broad jumping one inch farther than his 23 feet, 2 inches in the winter heptagonals.

Shot put--won by Tootell; 2, Trimble; 3, Kanter. Winning distance--49 feet, 5, inches. Hammer throw--won by Stromsted; 2, Rubin. Winning distance--144 feet, 5 3/8 inches. Discus--won by Tootell; 2, Wilson; 3, Trimble. Winning distance--145 feet, 7 inches. Javelin--won by Keith; 2, Ravreby. Winning distance--182 feet, 2 1/2 inches.
