Golf Team Beats M.I.T., 4-3, for First Win; Seager Leads with 75

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Paul Weissman dropped a 15-foot putt on the 18th green yesterday to give the varsity golf team a 4 to 3 win over M.I.T. The match, played at the Dedbam Country and Polo Club, was the golfers' first victory of the season, following three losses on the southern trip.

Sam Seager's 75 led the Crimson scoring. Playing no 3, Seager won his match 3 and 2. Weissman's last putt gave him a 76 and a 1-up win over his Tech opponent. Doug Wilde, even after 18 holes, also carded a 76.

Scores Improve

Captain Bob Matson dropped a 3 and 2 match to M.I.T.'s Jack Carrie, whose 72 was the low modal score of the day. Dave Gorman was 1 down at the end of his match. Hugh Nawn won easily, 7 and 6, and Jack Denton was even.

Yesterday's Crimson scores were considerably better than those in previous matches, though the match was finished in near-darkness. Thursday the team meets Amherst in what should be a fairly close match.
