Fencers Oppose Strong Lion Club

Foilsman Joe Vera, recovered from his leg injury, will return to competition to help the varsity fencers as they face a strong Columbia squad at 2 p.m. today in the Indoor Athletic Building.

The '53 fencers defeated Thayer Academy, 18 1/2 to 6 1/2, yesterday afternoon in the Blockhouse.

Foilsman Robert Nielson is the Columbia mainstay. He placed first in the junior division tournament of the Amateur Fencing League of America. The Lions have beaten Yale and lost to Army, which also topped the Crimson.

The varsity lineup:

Foils: Frankmann, Vera, Solee, Saber: Gay, Carter, Pierce, Levine, Epee: Overholser, Smith, Morton.
