Radcliffe's Admission to College Clubs Proposed

A special committee will tell the Student Council Monday that Radcliffe students should be permitted to join College organizations whenever no parallel Radcliffe group exists.

The seven-member Council committee yesterday released a Dean's Office requested recommendation for an "up-to-date policy" on the role of Radcliffe students in College organizations. Four College and three Annex students form the committee.

The report makes three points:

1. Where Radcliffe or Harvard organizations have counterparts at the other college, students may only join the groups at their own college.

2. No organization is obligated to open its membership to students from the other college.

3. Where the organization has no counterpart at the other college; a) Radcliffe students may join the Harvard organization up to the point at which there are enough girls in it to form a Radcliffe group (20 girls). They must then form their own Radcliffe organization; b) Harvard students may join a Radcliffe organization up to the point at which they form a majority, when they must form their own Harvard group.

Wait for New Annex Council

The recommendations of the Committee will probably be taken up at the first meeting of the newly elected Radcliffe Student Council, unless it is "particularly necessary for it to be discussed by the old Council immediately retiring President Joan Braverman '50 said last night.

The members of the committee inves- tigating the organizations, were '50, chairman, 'Miss William D. Mulholand, Jr. '50, and Elisabeth Tucker '52.

The committee said that it would make no recommendation for change in the House parietal rules. It felt that the rules are "adequate now, if they are interpreted liberally." This would mean that if the College club with Annex members wanted to meet in a House common room, it could do so in the evening, with an adult present.

Deans Would Get Rolls

In discussing membership lists, the committee said that names of Radcliffe students in College organizations would be sent to the Radcliffe Student Council and Radcliffe Dean's office. Names of Harvard members of Annex groups would similarly be sent to the Harvard Dean's office.

The committee formulated its recommendation on the basis of replies to a letter sent out February 23 to all College club chairmen and to questions asked of all the Radcliffe club chairmen, on what should be the status of women in the College clubs
