World Federalists Support State Bill

Four members of the University United World Federalist groups yesterday testified at the State House on behalf of a resolution directing Congress to propose an amendment to the U.S. Constitution which would allow the country to participate in a world federal government.

Alexander C. Cella '51 represented the College World Federalists at the six-hour hearing before the Senate Constitutional Law Committee, presided over by Charles J. Innes '22.

Six States Approve

Eleaza Williams 1L, Cord Meyer, Jr. Junior Follow and former president of the Federalists, and Dean Emeritus Holmes of the Graduate School of Education also appeared in favor of the resolution, which has already been passed in six states.

Senate Committee reaction to the resolution. Senate Bill 191, was decidedly sympathetic.

A Marines veteran group most strongly protested S 191, claiming that its sponsors, the World Federalists, were traitors to the United States.
