Police Will Tow Cars Blocking Snowplows

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Cambridge police will soon tow away legally-parked cars if they block snow removal efforts, Police Captain Mark E. Cunningham said last night.

Under a Massachusetts law, the Superintendent of Streets is empowered to call in police to remove any car that is in the way of a snow plow, Cunningham said.

In most cases of this sort, Cunningham added, the car is parked on a narrow street, and the snowplow cannot got through. The police will haul the car off, even if it is in a non-restricted area.

Police, meanwhile, continued their drive on overnight parking violations. Two cars were towed off Wednesday night, Cunningham reported.
