Dick Button of Englewood, New Jersey, World and Olympic Figure Skating champion, today was formally presented the James E. Sullivan Trophy as the outstanding amateur athlete of 1949.
Winner of the Olympic skating crown in 1948, Button went on to capture the World, North American and U.S. championships last year.
The trophy was presented by Albert F. Wheltle, president of the National Amateur Athletic Union, at ceremonies at the New York Athletic Club.
