Twenty-three varsity track men made the trip to West Point over the weekend to face Army and Princeton in a triangular track meet, but only eight of them figured in the scoring. Army won handily with 67 5/6 points and Princeton was second with 42 2/3. Harvard picked up 26 1/2 points.
Only first-place winner for the Crimson was Captain Geoff Tootell, who took the shotput with a heave of 48 feet, 10 1/2 inches. Harvard's don Trimble was second, 4 inches behind, and Jerry Kanter finished fourth by half a foot. Tootell also scored s surprise by taking third in the 35-pound weight.
A fairly strong Crimson mile-relay team of Charlie Durakis, Lou Tsavaris, Harvey Thayer, and Tom McGrath captured second place, and Thayer took second in the 600-yard run.
At Andover, the freshman track team lost, 55 1/2 to 42 1/2.

Mile relay--2, Harvard (Durakis, Tsavaris, Thayer, McGrath). 600-yard run--2, Thayer. 60-yard dash--tied for second, Pearlstein. 35-pound weight--3, Tootell. High jump--3, Barwise. Shotput--won by Tootell; 2, Trimble.

40-yard dash--won by Gogen; 2, Curran. Time: 4.7. 40-yard high hurdles--won by Ederer; 3, Twtichell. Time: 5.5. 300-yard run--3, Twitchell. 600-yard run--3, Brown. 1000-yard run--won by Judy. Time: 2:30.8. Discus--3, Lewis. 28-pound weight throw--won by Black; 3, Curran. Disance: 53 feeet, 11 1/2 inches. Broad jump--won by Mello. Distance: 20 feet, 6 inches. High jump--2, Mello; Lown tied for third. Pole vault--won by Mello; Lynne and Lown tied for third. Height: 12 feet.
