Bender Elucidates Draft Regulations

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dean Bender yesterday issued a statement calling students' attention to present draft rules.

Students receiving draft notices while in College, he stated, should ask for postponement of induction until the end of the academic year.

While the student remains in good academic standing, postponement will be mandatory. Deferment is optional with the draft board.

As officialy stated in the Selective Service Act of 1948, "Any person ordered to report for induction shall have his induction postponed (A) until the end of such academic year or (B) until he ceases satisfactorily to pursue such course of instruction--whichever is earlier."
