One hundred and fourteen Cambridge restaurant owners yesterday requested that the hours for serving liquor be extended from midnight to 1 a.m. This move resulted from Wednesday night's decision by the Cambridge License Commission to increase license fees from $80 to $150 for 1951.
Two local establishments frequented by students, the Wursthaus and Jim Cronin's Place, were not among the 114 restaurants that asked for an extension of hours. The Oxford Grille and the Club "100", also in the College area, did not participate in the action either.
Jim Cronin, owner of the institution on Dunster Street, expressed an opinion which was shared by the other restaurants in the vicinity of the University, that he "doesn't care" what the closing hour is."
