Winthrop defeated Leverett yesterday afternoon in House football, 18 to 6, with the Puritans holding a comfortable lead throughout the entire game.

Winthrop accepted a Leverett punt midway through the first period on their own 45, and after a series of line plays, Walt Greeley connected on a 20-yard pass to Dave Hernberg at the Bunny 15. On the next play Hernberg scored around end.

Another 20-yard pass from Greeley to John St. Clair put Winthrop 12 points ahead at the beginning of the second quarter, but Leverett broke into the scoring when Sam Paschal went off tackle for a 30-yard run later in the period.

The Puritans halted a Leverett threat in the third period when guard Dave Fine intercepted a Bunny pass on the one yard line. Winthrop then marched the length of the field, with Jack Wyckoff scoring.
