Nichols Junior College handed the freshman soccer team its second loss this season by shutting out the Yardlings, 1 to 0, at Dudley, Massachusetts, yesterday.
Nichols' lone goal came late in the second period. Halfback Don Putnam scored on an out-of-bounds kick from 30 feet away. Freshman goalie, Captain George Anderson, could not get the ball as it bounced off one of his fullbacks.
The freshmen could not accustom themselves to the sloppy and humpy field until they put together a concerted but unsuccessful effort in the closing minutes of play.
