Eliot waded through a muddy course yesterday to win the cross country meet on Dillon Field.
The Houses finished in the race as follows: Eliot, 52 points; Lowell 57; Adams, 84; Kirkland, 105; Leverett, 135; Dunster, 140; Winthrop, 146; Dudley, 218.
George Williams of Lowell finished first on the one and three-quarter mile course. Two Adams runners, Skiddy Lund and Hank Burnett came in second and third.
Others placing in the first ten were:
(4) Arlon Adams of Eliot
(5) Bob Sweet of Eliot
(6) Charles Nelson of Kirkland
(7) Bob Wolff of Eliot
(8) Lewis Travis of Lowell
(9) John Stoner of Kirkland
(10) Jim Downey of Adams
The race had to the re-routed because of water-soaked ground on the souther end of Dillon Field. But these conditions did not deter Dave Smith of Winthrop from limping through the course with an injured leg.
