Dick Craven Chosen Captain Of Next Year's Soccer Team

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The varsity soccer lettermen yesterday elected goalie Richard Christopher Craven '52 of Winthrop House and New York City as captain of next year's team. He replaces graduating captain Albert E. Wolf '51.

This year, Craven has been the mainstay of Bruce Munro's defensive lineup. Besides playing an outstanding game in the goal, he has been particularly valuable setting up the defense and calling players into position.

Served in Japan

Craven played soccer for the first time at Deerfield Academy, where he was goalic on its 1946 undefeated New England championship team. After two years of service with a paratroopers unit in Japan, Craven entered Fordham College where there was no soccer team.

He was ineligible to play soccer when he transferred here this last fall, but Craven worked out with the freshman team.
