Varsity Sailors Drop Plans for Navy Race

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Varsity sailors have cancelled plans to race in the Navy Fall Invitation Meet at Annapolis this weekend, but the freshmen will meet M.I.T. on the Charles at 10 a.m. tomorrow.

Hour exams and low finances forced the varsity to reject a Navy invitation for this weekend at the last minute. The team members have decided instead to go to the Potomac Frostbite Meet at Washington, D.C. on December 2 and 3.

The Crimson was invited to the Navy meet as the second highest team in the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association competition.

Five freshmen boats will race against Tech. Skippers are Jim Nathanson, Tim Brown, John Newhall, George Bates, and Tom Tavener. Depending upon the wind, the two teams will probably race the best five out of seven.

M.I.T. has given the Yardlings and varsity their stiffest competition this year.
