With a rapidly-converted center at quarterback, the jayvee football team heads for Franklin, Mass., this afternoon to throw a new offense against a defensively-strong Dean Academy eleven. The show starts at 2 p.m.
Financial difficulties forced Bill Kierstead, starting quarterback in every game, out of the lineup two days ago. Since that time Coach Norm Shepard has experimented with Bill Monteith, regular center, in the ball-handling position and has decided to start him today. Defensive center Erwin Vonderlage will play on offense. The remainder of the lineup is unchanged from last week.
Monteith is deceptive, but neither he nor Kierstead are great passers. The squad is already operating from the fast Yale balanced T with flanker.
Dean Academy, running from an unbalanced T and a single-wing, will also be playing without an outstanding back. Sam Cronis sprained an ankle in a recent game with the Tufts freshmen. Halfback Bob McCormick will be a threat, and Frank di Pittro and Billy Moore are outstanding on defense.
