Students may be able to draw from nude female models in a University building for the first time in history Monday.
A faculty committee voted yesterday on whether to permit the Harvard Art Association to bring unclothed women to the top floor of Sever Hall. If the vote is favorable the club slates the first of a series of meetings for 8 p.m. Monday night.
Those more interested in the female matter than art, however, will have to remain at the keyhole. The meetings will be limited to students who have joined the Association before today and who have previously painted at least one hour in the club's room in Fogg.
Five years ago the Art Association held a similar meeting in Sever Hall, but without official sanction. Then a janitor broke in on the party unexpectedly, did a double take, and lit out for the Dean's office. An official of the club was subsequently suspended.
The Fine Arts Department has no ruling against naked girls in its art classes, but within the memory of department officials students have been able to study the female anatomy only through skin tight bathing suits--if at all.
