Offensive patterns were emphasized at yesterday's football practice as the varsity worked on timing and assignments in a dummy scrimmage.
Coach Lloyd Jordan explained after practice that he had been stressing offensive play because the defense was further along than the offense. "If we can control the ball Saturday we'll have a much better game," he added.
One change in the Crimson's usual passing attack against Army may see end Mike Hyde playing more offense than be has in the first two contests. Hyde has been outstanding defensively thus far, but Jordan has been riving him plenty of receiving practice this week.
The six-foot-three inch Hyde teamed with Fred Ravechy at the first offensive end positions yesterday, and made a number of nice catches of passes thrown by quarterback Carroll Lowenstein.
The squad is in very good physical shape for Army, with only four players on the injured list. Halfbacks Red Wylie and Hill Realay and tackle Bob Stargel are quite sure to be benched for the game.
Sedgwick May Go
Today's medical report will decide whether or not Duke Sedgwick will be ready to go. If Sedgwick is not fit, John Nichols will start in his position at offensive right tuckle.
The West Point contingent, of Colonel Earl Henry Blaik, coaches, handlers, and 44 players arrives at 2:20 p.m. today and will hold a light workout in the Stadium. The Crimson will hold its usual token drill later in the afternoon.
