Conant Receives Second Operation

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

President Conant successfully underwent his second operation to complete treatment of diverticulitis yesterday at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Conant was previously operated on in June.

Dr. Dean A. Clark, General Director of the Hospital, reported that the President "was in excellent condition, and it is expected that his recovery will be complete in a few weeks." In Conant's absence, Provost Buck will manage the affairs of the University.

Conant was stricken with an intestinal inflammation shortly after June Commencement and was immediately operated on. The operation forced the President to cancel a summer trip to Europe.
