Crimson Given Edge In Tomorrow's Game With Weak Princeton

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Harvard opens fire in the 46th annual competition of the Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball League tomorrow night in Princeton's Dillon Gym. It faces a team which got a fine pre-season build-up but which has failed to impress so far.

The Tigers won their first game against Lehigh at home then lost their next seven straight, all played away from Dillon, to Lafayette, Rutgers, Colgate, Syracuse, Northwestern, Hlinois, and Columbia. Last night's loss to the Lions was Princeton's first League game.

Traditionally weak on opposing courts, Princeton has been held back this season, by poor "shooting, a lacklustre defense, and the fact that several football men, notably George Sella, have not yet made a successful transition from turf to floor. Coach Cappy Capon has a short team--Bernia Adams at 6-4 is about his only tall man--which is in the habit of fouling out early, leaving Capon without five capably players.

All-League Stars

Sella and Adams were All-League choices last season, but Sella is a late season player who hasn't acquired his basketball eye yet. Dick Kazmaier, outstanding sophomore back this fall, was also a star freshman basketball player, but he is not a starter.

Harvard, with a five and five record, will probably count on feeding its high-scoring forward John Rockwell--203 points in ten games. Gerry Murphy, who will start at one of the guard positions, also has compiled an excellent average--he ranks third in the country in foul shooting with a percentage of 88.2.

Probable starting lineups: HARVARD  PRINCETON Rockwell  f  Holman Gabler or Crosby  f  Armstrong Prior or Smith  c  Adams Covey  g  Sella Murphy  g  Kearns
