The 1952 Red Book "will be printed and distributed by the final week in January," editor-in-chief- Frank B. Gilbert '52 told Howard W. Robbins '52 of the Sophomore Class Committee yesterday.
Gilbert gave the Committee a written statement in reply to an inquiry made before vacation to determine what was holding up the book, which was supposed to have been released last fall.
The Red Book editor men with the Committee before vacation and discussed the problems which were delaying publication. Foremost among these he said was the necessity to shorten the volume in order to break even on costs.
Re-Write Causes Delay
An extensive re-writing job also caused the group to fall behind on its printing schedule, Gilbert added.
In its present 196 page lay-out the Red Book will offer a complete record of the activities of last year's freshman class as well as biographies of cach member of that group.
Purchasers of the publication paid a sum of six dollars last year for both the Red Book and the Register. The Class Committee conducted its inquiry when sophomores began asking why the former had not appeared. The 1951 Red Book came out in November; 1950's was delayed until February.
