A system of one-shift meals and an enlarged work program change Radcliffe dormitory routines this Fall.
With the opening of Moors Hall easing the 'Cliffe housing shortage, all dorm residents and the 131 girls in off-campus houses will now be able to take meals on one shift. Last year dorm students and off-campus affiliates ate in two settings. Graduates, however, will eat at a special second-shift hour in Whitman Hall.
More Student Work
Freshmen and upperclassmen will also face an enlarged work program similar to the cooperative work system in force at Vassar College.
Students will have full care of their rooms and will be responsible for increased amounts of pantry work, bell duty, and table-waiting. Under last year's program, girls handled three hours' worth of bells and kitchen duty weekly. This year the maximum duty for each girl will be five hours per week and will run somewhat less in the larger halls.
No Announced Inspections Now
Maids will continue to take care of public rooms, bathrooms, and corridors but will only be on bell duty from 7:30 to 9 a.m. daily. Two maids will supervise dining room and pantry operations.
No announced inspections by the head resident will take place under the present arrangement. Should the cleaning problem prove severe when the maintenance staff makes its Christmas cleanup, however, announced inspections will be inaugurated.
