Graduate Group Gives Medal to Astronomer

Radcliffe's graduate chapter of the Alumnae Association awarded its annual medal Saturday to Cecelia Payne-Gaposchkin, Phillips Astronomer at Harvard.

Mrs. Payne-Gaposchkin received her A.B. at Cambridge and her Ph.D. at the Annex; she is an expert in the fields of astro-physics and photometry, the study of the measurement of light. She is a lecturer in astronomy at Harvard.

Won Citation, Too

The award was accompanied by a citation which read in part "to one who won a place of great prominence in the sciences; an outstanding and distinguished scientist who has successfully combined the activities of home and career."
