U. of P., Williams Nose Out Varsity Tennis Team, 5-4

The varsity tennis team bucked to Pennsylvania and Williams by identical 5 to 4 scores this weekend. Penn beat the Crimson here Friday and Williams won on her own courts Saturday.

In the Pennsylvania match Friday afternoon only Bud Ager, the number one singles man won in the singles. All three doubles teams banged out victories at the end of the afternoon.

Where Pennsylvania's strength came as a surprise, Williams' prowess on the courts was known in advance. The number one singles player, Robinson, and the number one doubles team of Schaff and Scribner are powers in the tennis world.

Robinson has beaten his Harvard singles opponent for the last two years and Schaff and Scribner won the New England intercollegiate doubles last week. Upsets were in store however. Ager won his first singles match and joined with Ted Bullard to win the first doubles.

Jay Robb and Dave Key, the second combo, finished on the short end of a three set match.
