Freshman baseball players hit like the 1927 Yankees yesterday, scored 22 runs on 20 hits, eight walks, and eight golen bases, while their pitcher, Spider Webb, gave Leicester Junior College one hit, one walk, and one run.
The game was mercifully called after the visitors failed to score in the top of the seventh inning.
The Yardlings opened up the barrage with seven runs in the first inning, continued with single tallies in the second and third, three in the fourth, four in the fifth, and six in the sixth, their last appearance.
Backstop Charlie Walsh literally cleaned up in the cleanup spot, with four hits in five at bats, including a double and a triple. Webb, who with Walsh was the only player allowed to stay in the massacre all the way, got three hits in five tries.
First baseman Al Switzer connected for a home run and a double, center-fielder Ben Akillian tripled, Captain Jack Donelan doubled and singled.
