Crimson Hopes Dim in Hep Track Meet; Rickenbacker Leads NE Intercollegiates

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Golf captain Bill Rickenbacker scored a 71 in the New England Intercollegiates yesterday to tie for low man among 164 entries. He thereby became the only varsity player who will compete in the individual championships this afternoon.

The rest of the team played its worst golf of the season, but managed to grab sixth place in the 25-squad field. Boston College broke the course record with a 293 score-an average tournament for the second year in a row.

Harvard came in 19 strokes behind BC. The Crimson fielded six men and counted the four best scores, as follows: Bill Rickenbacker 71, Bob Matson 78, Dick Q'Keeffe 79, and Herb Mee and Hugh Nawn 83.

The freshman golfers have cancelled their tentative match with MIT, scheduled for today.
