Military assistance for western Europe is a risk and a gamble, but it is one we have to take," Bruce C. Hopper 24, associate professor of Government, told an audience in Littauer Auditorium last night. His talk, "Military Aspects of the Atlantic Community" was the fourth in a series sponsored by the United Nations Council.

Hopper stated that a "definitive" U. S. policy towards Europe is developing for the first time in history, and that arming the western democracies is an important part of it. Chief aim of the policy is the establishment of a balance of power against Russia, he said.
