NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Kirkland broke a first place tie with Lowell to win the House volleyball championship yesterday, beating Dunster 2 to 1, while the Bellboys lost 2 to 1 to Dudley.

Adams and Leverett ended the season in a tie for third, as the Gold Coasters shut out Winthrop 2 to 0, and the Bunnies blanked the last place Eliot team 2 to 0.

Final standings are: Kirkland (6-1), Lowell (5-2), Adams and Leverett (4-3), Dunster and Dudley (3-4), Winthrop (2-5), Eliot (1-6).

Capturing the title strengthened Kirkland's lead in the Straus Trophy race, upping the Deacon total by 115 points to 896. Lowell is second with 856 points, and Eliot is third with 772.

An outline schedule released yesterday by Intramural Director Dolph Samborski promised a four-sport freshman spring program, consisting of softball, tennis doubles and singles, track, and rowing singles.

The House teams will begin competition shortly after the vacation ends with Eliot House the one to beat. Last year it won softball, baseball, and crew to clinch the Straus Trophy.
