Winthrop to Play Gilbert Operetta

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Winthrop House's production of "Trial by Jury" by Gilbert and Sullivan has now been in rehearsal for four weeks. Present plans call for production of the operetta on April 29 and 30. Radcliffe students will play the female roles.

Samuel V. K. Willson '50 of Eliot House, the only non-Winthrop man in the show, will direct the music.

Soloists include David N. Shapiro '51, James A. Gregg '51, both singers in the Glee Club, and Daniel G. McCook, '48. Joan G. Dexter '52 of Radcliffe will be the leading female soloist.

Arthur M. Shercliff, resident Choate fellow, who thought up the idea, is the producer of the show. Shercliff, an Englishman, came to this country last fall. While in England, he acted in nu-numerous Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, including "Trial by Jury."
