Council Changes Rules, Procedure For NSA Election

The Council last night completely reorganized its procedure for the National Students Association election which will take place Thursday, April 14, just after return from spring vacation.

Alfred M. Goodloe '50, Chairman of the present NSA delegation, announced that a preliminary meeting of candidates will be held Thursday to pass out the necessary petition blanks and explain the functions of the organization.

Three major provisions of last year's election procedure were changed in the final draft agreed upon last night.

1) There will be no screening process candidates will be put on the ballot if they collect 75 names on a petition.

2) Candidates will be allowed no more than $10 campaign expenses, and will have to submit all campaign posters and ideas to an Election Commission for approval.

3) Voters can vote for any number of men up to eight.

The Council also came out against the awarding, of athletic letters on the basis of participation in the Yale game, voted $550 for the printing of the Poskanzer Report, and voted-approval of the Massachusetts Fair Education Practices Act and disapproval of the Sullivan Anti-Communist Teachers Bill.
