Eliot Takes Lead In House Hockey, Nips Puritans, 4-3

Eliot captured first place in the House hockey league yesterday by defeating Winthrop, 4 to 3. Both teams were unbeaten going into the game, which was one of the closest and best of the season.

The Elephants get off to a bad start and didn't hold the lead once until they won the game with a last minute goal. Farwell Smith, the standout player for Eliot, made up for his unpolished skating by speed and spirit rare in intramural hockey.

Yesterday morning the Adams sextet crushed Dunster, 6 to 2, with Bill Kegg, Pete Olney, Dave Tirrell, and Skiddy Lund turning in the best performances for the Goldcoasters. Although Dunster took an early lead, Adams controlled the rest of the game, capitalizing on the sloppy Funster goal-tending.

In the last hockey game yesterday Dudley beat Leverett, 5 to 2.

Eliot's A team edged Kirkland, 46 to 42, in the only House basketball contest, which came as a prelude to the Pennsylvania game. Bob Crichton and Fred England were high scorers for the Elephant five.
