At Harvard, it's the Yale game that counts. Therefore the freshman basketball squad can tonight make a success of a season which, especially in its late stages, has been strongly flavored with mediocrity. In their last five games, the freshmen have won but a single bame and their victim was a prep school.
Tonight's game begins at 7:45 p.m. in the Arena.
Coach Lloyd Harper was hardly happy about the approaching tussle with the New Haven boys at yesterday's practise session. Harper has only the limited services of his most consistant scorer and most effective defensive player, Jerry Murphy.
Murphy injured his eye in a squash accident a week and a half ago and his athletic activities are still restricted according to doctor's orders.
Al Switzer who filled in regularly for center John Stevenson earlier in the season will probably start for Murphy. The other four positions in the first string will be occupied by regulars Bill Borth and Captain Bill Hickey at the guards, John Stevenson at center, and Jim Downey at forward.
Yale has two effective offensive weapons in the persons of a six-ft. seven in center Ted Buchannan and fast team captain Jim McKew.
Hickey, Murphy, Downey, Switker, Borah, and Stevenson, in that order, are pictured above with Coach Harper.
