Hockey Team Trims Tigers 5-3, in Contest at Princeton

The Tigers kept down the scoring, but the varsity sextet successfully opened the season's Big Three hockey with an easy 5 to 3 win at Princeton Saturday night.

Despite the closeness of the score, the Crimson led all the way and was never seriously threatened by the low scoring Tigers. But a warm rink made the ice sticky, causing the varsity's passing and scoring to fall off. A second factor in the low scoring was Princeton's excellent not coverage late in the game.

Low Preston was top scorer for the Crimson and played his best game since the BU contest. In the second period, he beat Tiger goalie Bob O'Connor on a beautiful backhand shot. Earlier he had popped in another on a pass from Dave Key.

DiBlasio Gets Goal

Bob DiBlasio, who again alternated on the third line with Doug Anderson, scored his first goal for the Crimson in a third period scramble in front of the Princeton cage. Anderson is still favoring his broken wrist and didnt' play the whole game.

Other varsity goals were scored by Myles Huntington and Joe Kittredge, In penalties, six out of eight calls were on Harvard players.

Princeton picked up a fluke goal in the middle period when a loose puck bounced off the stick of Jack Carman in the Crimson goal mouth and rolled past goalie Phil Clark.

The freshmen also had a game scheduled on Saturday, at St. Paul's outdoor rink, but rain washed it out.
