Johnny Chafee's Yardling Wrestlers, who have neglected their muscles to bone up for exams, face a grave danger of being skinned when they take the mat against a superior Exeter squad at Exeter, New Hampshire, today.
Ulysses-like Ted Anderson, unsurpassed among his company in wiles, will wrestle in the 145-pound classic for the Freshmen against Adams, big spear of the Red and Gray. This skirmish, according to Chafee, will be the liveliest in the battle.
Two Crimson grapplers-have special reasons for wanting to win their matches today. Neil Hastie, wrestling at 160, will be pitted against one of his former teammates, while ex-Andover man Al Sawyer will get a chance to tussle with an old rival.
Rupp Sheds Light
Alex Rupp, in the 128 class, has been getting almost too heavy for his position lately. Chafee says Rupp's weight-gaining pounds home the need for some more lightweights on the team. But that doesn't mean that Bill Joyner at 121 and Chip Carter at 136 aren't a feather in any coaches cap.
Jim Fleming at 175 and Harry Johannsen in the unlimited slot are the ones heft in today's lineup.
During the spring Chafee intends to strengthen the team offensively by teaching his men some new leg holds.
