Over 250 alumni have offered their services as career advisers to University men graduating this year, Donald S. Bradshaw '44, assistant director of Student Placement, disclosed yesterday.
The purpose of this arrangement is to acquaint students with job opportunities in other parts of the country. However, "Men who expect to see these advisers should realize that these alumni have volunteered to counsel students, not to offer particular jobs," Bradshaw warned.
Students interested in meting with one of the alumni advisers during Christmas vacation are urged to register now for appointments at Student Placement's Weld Hall office.
Started in 1946
The alumni advising program was instituted by the Placement Office in 1946 in order to supplement the Office's job information service for graduating students. At that time there were only about 60 alumni who participated in the program and most of these were in the Boston area.
Over the past several years the list of alumni assisting students has been expanded with an eye toward covering a broader number of careers and geographical areas.
