Adams Joins PBH In Philanthropies For Local Gamins

Adams will be the first House in the College to steal the Phillips Brooks House thunder and put on a Christmas party for the poor children of Cambridge, Alfred C. Parmelee '52 announced yesterday.

Credit for the idea, according to Parmelle, goes to the Gold Coaster House Committee which called him in for advice. Parmelle is the House leader for PBH. The party will be held on the afternoon of Monday, December 19, in the Adams dining hall.

Anywhere from 35 to 50 gamins are expected to be guests for the Yuletide entertainment, which will feature the inevitable Santa Claus and magician, plus a two or three piece band. Refreshments will be served, and, when it comes to present giving, the committee will follow the PBH standard of giving one practical gift and one useless toy to each guest.

The children will be procured through the Family Society of Cambridge, a social group that keeps tabs on gamins not connected with settlement houses.

A large number of contributions have, according to Parmelee, been received from faculty members of Adams House, and canvassing is now being conducted in every entry.
