Two 1 to 0 victories brought Radcliffe sophomores the field hockey championship and a head start in the all-sports intramural race yesterday afternoon on the 'Cliffe Quad. After warning up against the freshmen in the first game of the double-header, the sophomore squad topped the juniors by the same score in the playoffs.
Evenly matched for the scoreless first half, the freshman-soph battle brightened in the second ten minutes as the strong '52 offense broke loose. Captain Ellen Guild, taking the ball out on a penalty corner, passed to Dory Caiger for the score.
A similar penalty corner play in the junior-sophomore game sent the ball from Miss Guild to Anne Worthington and back to Miss Guild, who drove it in for the one tally.
