Pankey Selected Harriers' Captain

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The varsity cross-country team yesterday afternoon elected John H. Pankey, III, of Philipsburg, Montana and Kirkland House, to captain the squad in 1950.

Pankey, who was Coach Jaakko Mikkola's best junior in competition throughout the past season captained the freshman squad two years ago. He did not come out for cross-country last fall, but played jayvee football and practiced for the basketball team.

Coach Mikkola, in congratulating the captain-elect, expressed the opinion that he was constantly improving and might join sophomore Dave Gregory in pacing the squad next fall. Gregory has been the top performer for Mikkola's squad throughout the fall, in a disastrous season which saw only one Crimson victory, a close win over Holy Cross.
