Six hundred dollars' worth of French oboe was stolen from the back seat of an automobile belonging to Paul Devergie '49 between 1 and 5 p.m. yesterday at Soldiers Field.
Devergie, a commuter and a member of the Orchestra, put the oboe in his car when he left his Beacon Street home. He stopped briefly at Dudley and then crossed the river to play in the Dudley Adams House football game.
Devergie does not actually remember seeing the oboe when he parked his car at Soldiers Field but claims that he would have noticed its absence.
Last spring Devergie wrote an article in the Saturday Evening Post about his father's experiences as an oboe player, presently with the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
