There was a time early in the season when Art Valpey said he had made arrangements to have all practice sessions in clear weather. As a matter of record it has not rained enough on a practice day since then to in any way disrupt the workout. True to form, the skies cleared beautifully yesterday afternoon just before the practice began.
But Valpey still wasn't taking any chances with threatening weather. He reversed the usual Monday procedure and had the squad loosen up before it went indoors to see the movies.
For many of the players, it was not an exhausting session. Men who played to any extent Saturday did not wear pads; they merely worked out the stiffness which had not set in after Saturday's game. The third and fourth things, however, engaged in a full scale scrimmage in order to get contact work equal to a Saturday game.
Movies at 5
After the varsity went in at 5 p.m. to see movies, the Jayvees and freshmen scrimmaged for another half hour under the lights.
In addition to the Holy Cross game films, Valpey also revived certain pertinent portions of the 1948 Princeton bout. The picture show lasted for an hour and a quarter.
Bill Barclay handed in his final scouting report on Princeton Sunday night, but Valpey was unable to make any comment as yet on the caliber of the Tiger team.
The most heartening thing about Monday's practice was that nobody new had been injured Saturday. It had been a bruising game but all came through it fairly well.
