PBH Winds Up Campaign for Blood With Donor Pledges for 576 Pints

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The PBH emergency blood drive committee wound up its week-long campaign this weekend with pledges for 576 pints of blood.

"This is about 50 per cent better than ever before," Kenneth D. Borg '50, chairman of the committee said.

He explained that the 1200 pint goal was a goal to be aimed at and not to be achieved.

The committee will make out an appointment schedule and send those who have signed up postcards telling the time of their appointments.

The actual donations, which take place at PBH November 7 and 8, will include a brief physical examination. Berg said that in the past about 45 per cent of those who signed up were either shown to be in bad health by this examination, didn't get releases from their parents, or didn't show up at all for their appointments.

Although there will be no more solicitations, additional volunteers may sign up with their House captains or at Brooks House.

Individually, donations were: Winthrop 112, Lowell 80, Kirkland 64, Adams 50, Leverett 47, Dunster 41, Radcliffe 32, Eliot 30, Mower and Lionel 26, Apley 17, Wigglesworth 15, Hollis 13, Wold 13, Mathews 12, Holworthy 11, Grays 10, and Claverly four.
