Benches in Sever Put on Block for Alumni Purchase

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Nostalgic alumni who want a relic from their undergraduate days can acquire one of Sever Hall's well-carved benches by sending a check for $15 or more to the University.

In replacing the benches with modern study chairs, the University was planning to scrap the planks for lumber, but the Alumni Association intervened with its plan to turn the benches out to pasture. All contributions for the benches will be used for the refurbishing of Wadsworth House which is being remodeled into an Alumni Center.

Many of the Sever boards are over 40 years old and thoroughly hacked up with names, sketches, Yale game scores, and doodles. The Alumni Association offers no suggestions as to what role these benches could play in the well-appointed home.

Checks should be mailed to Miss Mabelle C. Springer, Wadsworth House. The Alumni Association will ship, express collect, one bench--uncensored.
