Proposals for joint Liberal Union-Young Progressives action against the draft and universal military training will get a hearing at tonight's meeting of the HLU in the Lowell Junior Common Room.
The joint action proposal was first made by the YPH. It recommended that the two groups go on record in favor of the following program.
1) President Truman should act immediately to stop the draft machinery;
2) Congress should investigate non-military means to settle world differences through the United Nations or Big Four conferences and should repeal the Draft Act;
3) Expenditures saved by such action should be devoted to Federal public health, aid to education, and social security measures.
Tonight's HLU meeting will also elect a new executive committee.
