Marie Cord revealed two of her heart's desires--and a little bit more--last night while cavorting around The Gay Nineties in a moving little epic titled "Mrs. Bottomly's Bustle."
The reformed stripper--she's been on the wagon, sartorially speaking, since February--disclosed a passion for a Hasty Pudding tie and a chance to sing in the legitimate opera.
Getting down to first things first, Marie let it be known that since her current extravaganza was set in the clubroom of the Hasty Pudding Institute she felt that she was "practically a member."
It was probably the vagaries of the undress-for-pay profession that drove her to the opera. "Do you know," she indignantly exclaimed, "that they wouldn't let me perform in Providence, even with my clothes on."
"That's Fascism," interjected her manager.
"No," she replied with quiet dignity, "that's Providence."
