Fencing Team Finishes Sixth At New York Intercollegiates

Rene Peroy's swordsmen ran into some fierce competition in the Intercollegiate Fencing Association championship at New York over the weekend, and it was only a strong performance by the saber team that enabled Harvard to achieve sixth place.

In their final appearance of the season, the fencers were topped by CCNY, NYU, Navy, Army, and Cornell and edged out MIT, Yale, Rutgers, Columbia, and Princeton.

Navy, the defending champion in the epee and saber divisions and team leader in three-weapon totals, won handily in the first two but was deposed as team champion by CCNY. with a first in the foils, a second in the epee and a third in the saber.
