The already dim Crimson winter sports record became just a bit darker on Saturday when the Varsity wrestling team lost its first match of the season to a strong Army squad by the score of 18 to 11 in West Point's aged gymnasium.
Buddy King in the 136-pound class took the first points for the Crimson with a 5 to 3 victory over Al Fern. In the next weight up Dan Ray captured a 2 to 0 decision over Cadet Herb Turner, while at 165 Don Louria got the only other Harvard win when he defeated Chack Olentine for a 3 to 1 decision.
Clafila Draws
An improved Bob Clafila fought to a 1 to 1 draw with Cadet Jee Finley, to whom he lost last year, and the Crimson had its last points of the meet. At 121 Dave Coombs lost his first bout of the season by a 1 to 0 score, while at 188 and 155 Jim Westfall and Jim Conant were both pinned by Army aces Ralph Rasbe and Stanley Thevenet.
Peter Fuller, Crimson captain, lost a close 3 to 2 match in the unlimited bout.
