High Bill Prior will be riding the bench when the Varsity meets Cornell in a key EIL, game at the Arena tonight at 9:30 o'clock. Prior twisted his ankle Tuesday and the Crimson high command admitted yesterday that his absence may hamstring its strategy for stepping the Big Rod.
Cornell, who beat the Varsity last month 57 to 45 at Ithaca, is even stronger now, with the return of Billary Chellet, an all-league guard last year. Chellet will start at forward alongside Bob Gale (six-six) and Ed Peterson (six-nine). Those two men must be stepped if Harvard is to win tonight.
Gale, with 99 points in six league games, is the number three man in the EIL scoring race. Peterson, with 72, is sixth. With Prior but for probably the first half or so, Barclay will shift George Hauptfuhrer back to his old center post. Chip Gannon will start at forward and Walt McCurdy will be at one of the guard positions. Tomorrow night in New York, the Crimson will get another shot at Columbia, currently tied for the league leadership.
