Hearst Sees Red Influence Behind Anti-UMT Efforts

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Mimeographed material circulated in the University in the fight against Universal Military Training was prepared by Communist headquarters in New York, Hearst papers charged yesterday.

The newspapers said that "government sources" had compared the mimeographs to other pamphlets previously traced to a Communist Party headquarters typewriter.

Meanwhile, anti-UMT publicity agents reported that "bus and train caravans" were pouring into Washington from all over the country to protest the proposed bills. A round table discussion opened the assembly yesterday, and delegates will climb Capitol Hill today to apply pressure on Congress against the measure.

Twenty-five representatives of the Committee for Wallace and the Harvard and Radcliffe Youth for Democracy chapters are among the body of 8,000 students forming the anti-UMT lobby in Washington.
