Cornell slashed its way to a 151/2 to 111/2 victory over the varsity fencing team Saturday at Ithaca in the Crimson's opening match of the season.

Epee-wielders Chip Arp, John Ager, and Giles Constable turned in the only winning record of the match for the Crimson, cutting their three opponents by a score of 51/2 to 31/2.

In the foil and saber events, the Crimson fighters didn't fare so well. Ray Frankman, Bill Raney, and Stan Sheldon bowed 6 to 3 in the foil, with Frankman taking two of his adversaries only to lose to Cornell's Bill Clarvit, the only undefeated fighter of the match.
